New Monitor for Dual Monitor Setup
This morning I dragged myself up early and got down to the local UPS office to pick up my new monitor. It’s a Hannis.G 22″ LCD monitor that I bought from Newegg. It cost $150 when I bought it during the pre-Black Friday sale. No dead pixels!
When I brought it home, it took around 90 minutes to get everything set up since I was having problems with the DVI to VGA adapter. The adapter was having trouble screwing tightly to the case which caused most of the confusion. What I didn’t care for was that the adapter, which is roughly 2″ by 1.5″ came in a box big enough for one of my cats to be shipped in. When I pulled all the rumpled paper out, the adapter was in the bottom corner. Meanwhile, the monitor came in the exact same box it’d be on the shelves with. I thought that was a little strange mix of priorities.
I had to take my desk lamp off the desk since the new monitor has taken over its space. I guess I’ll have to buy a floor lamp now for adequate lighting. The monitor is also sitting atop my Javascript Bible 5th edition (a horrible book for a bare bones beginner) which is working somewhat. The only thing I have been unable to fully correct is getting the brightness and colors of the monitors to match perfectly. I used NVIDIA’s color management wizards to no avail. Hmm…the other note is the 22″ is running at 1680 x 1050 while the 15″ is at 1024 x 768.
