Twenty-three Firsts from my 23rd Year

I’m 10 days away from beginning my 24th revolution around the Sun. Being as such, I’m taking a note from simply delightful to note 23 firsts from my 23rd year of life. Not necessarily in order.

1. Graduated from college
2. Celebrated the last day of school with wine and steaks with friends
3. Saw Radiohead in concert
4. Took Shiver with me to the concert for our first out-of-town trip together sans parents
5. Tried new cheeses since having learned to make lasgana shortly beforehand
6. Ate authentic Japanese food: wasabi and pickled ginger
7. Freelanced my first paid job
8. Wrote a serious resume….or a few hundred
9. Appeared on the local news in an interview segment
10. Visited a college that wasn’t across town
11. Learned to give shots (for my cat’s diabetes)
12. Built my first computer from scratch
13. Dumped my boyfriend face to face
14. Claimed myself for the first time on my taxes
15. Realized I have a love for interior design
16. Finally have a job that isn’t customer service oriented
17. Realized depression doesn’t define me
18. Paid for my own dental bill
19. Discovered embryo adoption
20. Bought web space and my domain name
21. Purchased a mobile computer
22. Purchased first real cellphone
23. Started my retirement savings account

It’s not a very exciting life, I admit. However, its the only one I have and I’m going to embrace it and own it. This life is mine after all. May my 24th year lead to bigger and better things as I continue to grow towards the full, complete, and mature person I want to be and is still yet to be revealed.
