NaNo

A couple years ago I came across this book about writing a novel in 30 days. Little did I know at the time that there are thousands of people who participated in this challenge each November. For the last few years I’ve been too busy with school to participate. However, now I’m out of college and still have not found that non-retail job so I have some extra time on my hands. I’m going to do this.

Then tonight I found MindTweaks, a blog that had this inspiring article on how to prepare for NaNo. I’m batting around a couple ideas, but it’ll be a challenge either way. It’s a good thing I’ve already written 35+ short stories so far this year. Now to hammer out a novella-length piece? That is going to be a challenge.

I am ready!

Tonight was our last shift at our store. I’ve been there 26 months and 18 days. KB for 20 years. Betty is ??? but she was at our store, transferred out for awhile, then came back.

Teaching More Computer Skills

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

It was snowing today when I left the house and one of the instructors for the class was full of unbounded glee as he kept running to the door to look out at the snowfall. It was rather amusing the first 58 times, but after that, the students were telling him he needs to go north to see a real snowfall. ^_^

Today’s class went by very slow as we reviewed topics from last week. The students were quick though and were zipping ahead without much help. It was more difficult to reign in their enthustiam as they tackled the internet by themselves.

I stayed after class again to teach one student how to use Gmail. She had received emails before, but had never sent one. We then moved onto the topic of what kind of components she needs in her new laptop. I wrote down the bare minimum requirements for her and discussed the pro and cons of using your debit card as a credit card online. She’s terrified of having her identity stolen. I will say though, it was pretty adorable when she said, “my really geeky friend had their identity stolen.” Haha. <3 I shouldn’t be so surprised, but I am occasionally at other generations being “hip” to slang.

Website Work

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I’ve been hacking away at my main website Godaisies all morning to no avail. Trying to learn how to use WordPress as a content management system is a little more difficult than I thought. I’ve installed a bunch of themes hoping to find the right look to no avail.

So back to the drawing board.
