I’m 10 days away from beginning my 24th revolution around the Sun. Being as such, I’m taking a note from simply delightful to note 23 firsts from my 23rd year of life. Not necessarily in order.
- Graduated from college
- Celebrated the last day of school with wine and steaks with friends
- Saw Radiohead in concert
- Took Shiver with me to the concert for our first out-of-town trip together sans parents
- Tried new cheeses since having learned to make lasgana shortly beforehand
- Ate authentic Japanese food: wasabi and pickled ginger
- Freelanced my first paid job
- Wrote a serious resume….or a few hundred
- Appeared on the local news in an interview segment
- Visited a college that wasn’t across town
- Learned to give shots (for my cat’s diabetes)
- Built my first computer from scratch
- Dumped my boyfriend face to face
- Claimed myself for the first time on my taxes
- Realized I have a love for interior design
- Finally have a job that isn’t customer service oriented
- Realized depression doesn’t define me
- Paid for my own dental bill
- Discovered embryo adoption
- Bought web space and my domain name
- Purchased a mobile computer
- Purchased first real cellphone
- Started my retirement savings account
It’s not a very exciting life, I admit. However, its the only one I have and I’m going to embrace it and own it. This life is mine after all. May my 24th year lead to bigger and better things as I continue to grow towards the full, complete, and mature person I want to be and is still yet to be revealed.
