Oreo Cupcakes and Cake
My favorite parts of these unfrosted Oreo cupcakes is the fine texture that is a result of the cocoa powder. The second is that there is a whole Oreo cookie in the bottom of each cupcake.

I was in a hurry to go to a potluck, so I didn’t have time to make the first batch of cupcakes, take them out, and then reuse the pan. So instead I squashed about 8 Oreos in a sandwich bag with my rolling pin, then put them in this glass pie pan. I then poured the remaining cupcake batter on top to make this delicious dessert!

Made from this recipe.
Busy with Graduate Assistantship
I have been updating as much of late because I’ve been pretty busy between school work and my assistantship. Then today I was sending out (what felt like) dozens of emails to various teachers, the county district’s school librarian head, librarians, AND sent in my application for reference internship. I was so wiped out that I came home and slept for a few hours. So onto progress on the two websites I’m doing for my job!

I think the alternative title of these chapters is “libraries are boring, drab places that suck.”
Sure, I recognize the types of libraries she’s discussing but I don’t think it’s fair to whitewash all libraries with that brush. I really liked my high school librarians and even now write to them. The ladies at the public branch that sits next to my high school though? They spent all their time trying to make up fines for me which infuriated me to no end.
Coping with Toxic Managers is a tough book. I’m not sure whether I like it or not. Chapters 1-4 deal with narcissism and the dangers inherit in dealing with these individuals. I got distracted while reading trying to figure out if my previous managers were like any of the examples.
Mint Brownies for My Valentine
Using this recipe, I made mint brownies for my boyfriend to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take a photo of the top layer of icing which resulted in the brown finished product above. My boyfriend said it was like biting into an Andes mint. I loved making this. The brownie batter was so good that I was licking it off my fingers so I wouldn’t miss any.
I hope you had someone to share the love with today!

And finally we’ve reached the end of First, Break All the Rules. Chapter seven is the first time I’ve disagreed with the book’s assessment on how to interview for talent. That is, I ABHOR open-ended questions such as, “Tell me about a time when you…” since I shut down when nervous and can’t think of anything.
Update: Here are the notes from Creating the Customer-Driven Library.

Sorry that I’m late. There’s been some family issues that has tied me up, so I’m playing catch up now. These chapters cover literacy and assessment.
