Teaching More Computer Skills

It was snowing today when I left the house and one of the instructors for the class was full of unbounded glee as he kept running to the door to look out at the snowfall. It was rather amusing the first 58 times, but after that, the students were telling him he needs to go north to see a real snowfall. ^_^

Today’s class went by very slow as we reviewed topics from last week. The students were quick though and were zipping ahead without much help. It was more difficult to reign in their enthustiam as they tackled the internet by themselves.

I stayed after class again to teach one student how to use Gmail. She had received emails before, but had never sent one. We then moved onto the topic of what kind of components she needs in her new laptop. I wrote down the bare minimum requirements for her and discussed the pro and cons of using your debit card as a credit card online. She’s terrified of having her identity stolen. I will say though, it was pretty adorable when she said, “my really geeky friend had their identity stolen.” Haha. <3 I shouldn’t be so surprised, but I am occasionally at other generations being “hip” to slang.
