Thoughts on the State of the Union Address

I live-blogged President Obama’s State of the Union Address (video or transcript) in a casual way with my friend. However, here were my main favorite and surprising points:

  • Ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
  • Bringing home the troops from Iraq by the end of August
  • Ending tax breaks to companies that send our jobs overseas (NAFTA devastated NC when our jobs slipped away to foreign shores)
  • Graduates wouldn’t pay more than 10% of their income towards their school loans per year
  • The smackdown on health care reform being dragged out. We NEED health care in this country!
  • JOBS JOBS JOBS

Mighty Life List

I first heard of Maggie Mason from ABCNews talking about women bloggers. I quickly fell in love with her blog (though it’s been a bit on the outs lately) and was inspired by her to keep chipping away at my own blog (what you’re reading now). For a good discussion about Maggie’s Mighty Life List, click here. In short, it’s a list of things you want to do before you die. I’ve been having trouble building mine but I’ll update this post with new items as I think of them:

1) Write a completed novel
2) Take Dad to Hatteras Point, NC
3) Carry a child to term/be a mother
4) Learn how to watercolor

Shiver’s Coloring Technique on Livestream

Watch live streaming video from shiverdragon at livestream.com

Last night, I convinced Shiver to share with me her coloring technique via Livestream and it was amazing! She brought Adramuth to life beautifully from the original sketch to have a well-rounded face that was both mischievous and promising of his future self.

Man shagged by rare parrot

Oh, Stephen Fry! <3

The best commentary is in the last 45 seconds or so as Stephen Fry comments on the man going to be having an egg after having been mated with.

Great Corsets

…are to be found in Carrie Underwood’s video, Cowboy Casanova.

Want

So cute. So expensive.

I can’t wait to try out the photo editing, though I wish they had gone in depth on what they meant by flickr integration.

Double the Fireworks!

Filmed from a bridge that crossed over I-26 near downtown Asheville. This is a last burst of the fireworks show. Towards the end the camera refocuses and that distant small red fireworks are from Lake Julian. We also saw the ones from McCormick field from our location so in effect we got all three major shows in Buncombe county!
